Due to the forecasted tropical storm impacting the Hudson Valley this weekend, the VSA has postponed our Whiskey event until Spring 2024.

ShredVets Program Affiliates with Veterans Sportsmens Association (VSA)
Sept. 10, 2023, WEST HURLEY, NY – Hudson Valley ShredVets, a veterans peer support group, has affiliated with the Veterans Sportsmens Association (VSA) of the Hudson Valley, bringing a winter sports focus into VSA’s program offerings.
ShredVets provides veterans free participation in skiing and snowboarding at local Catskill Mountain ski areas, and facilitates newcomers to the sport with free equipment and instruction. Veterans in the program ski, ride and learn with fellow veterans, enjoying the outdoors and healthy activity during a time of year that can be otherwise isolating and challenging for veterans. ShredVets begins its 3rd year of operation this winter with over 40 enrolled veterans. The Veterans Sportsmens Association (VSA) is composed of Veterans and Civilians alike who take pride in honoring All Veterans for their service and sacrifices. The VSA provides Veteran sponsored shooting events, firearms training, and other outdoor activities within the Hudson Valley Region. The VSA is a Federally recognized 501c3 Non-profit Organization, and located in Poughkeepsie, New York.

NEW YORK STATE PISTOL PERMIT
SAFETY COURSE
FY 2023
New York State 18 Hour Concealed Carry Firearms Safety Course. Attending this course will allow you to apply for a pistol permit in accordance with the NYS Pistol Law effective 1 September 2022. This is a 16 hour course, plus two hours of range time. You can also use this course to renew your NYS permit in jurisdictions that require the 18 Hour course for permit renewal.
This class will be conducted several times in 2023 at the Crum Elbow Sportsmens Association. The course fee of $275 includes firearms, ammunition, safety equipment, and the full two days of required classroom training as well as the required range qualifications. The VSA provides training to all areas of the Hudson Valley as well as Eastern PA. If any club or organization is interested in cohosting this course, please contact us for scheduling information

WESTCHESTER COUNTY CERTIFICATION

The Course Curriculum provided by the Veterans Sportsmens Association (VSA) for the mandatory 18 Hour Pistol Safety Course Pursuant to PL 400.00 (19) has been accepted for applicants requesting a NYS Pistol License in Westchester County by the Westchester County Dept. of Public Safety - Pistol License Unit.

FIFTH CIRCUIT’S ORDER ON PISTOL BRACE INJUNCTION

NEW ORLEANS, LA (May 26, 2023) — Today, Firearms Policy Coalition (FPC) released a statement on the Fifth Circuit’s Order clarifying that the Injunction Pending Appeal in Mock v. Garland applies to FPC’s members, Maxim Defense’s customers, and the individual plaintiffs’ resident family members. The order, along with other case documents, can be viewed at FPCLaw.org.

2023 FRIENDS OF THE NRA GRANT
Firearms to be used for Training Students
The Veterans Sportsmens Association (VSA) was very fortunate to be a recipient of the Friends of the NRA Grant Program for 2022 - 2023. The VSA received funds to purchase Two new Hammerli Tac R1 22 rifles and One Glock 44 Pistol. The Hammerli Tac R1 22 C offers the best precision, quality, and value of any .22 L.R. AR-Style rifle on the market. Featuring a 13” M-LOK® handguard, flip up back-up sights, removable flash-hider, and ergonomic stock & grip, the TAC R1 22 C rifle is the most versatile .22 rifle available. The VSA will use these new Hammerli rifles and Glock 44 for all upcoming pistol and rifle courses.
2023 VETERANS WORKSHOP

On 26 February the VSA ran its first Hands On Maple Production Veterans Workshop at Soukup Farms in Dover Plains NY. Participants learned about the history of New England Maple Production, process and production techniques, and enjoyed samples of finished maple syrups. Soukup Farms is Veteran Owned, and we greatly appreciate their hospitality and support of local Veterans.

NRA TRAINING PROGRAM
Starting in January 2023
The Veterans Sportsmens Association has teamed up with firearms manufacture KAHR Arms to provide NRA Training Courses at their Tommy Gun Warehouse facility in Greeley PA starting in 2023. These NRA Basic and Instructor Level Courses will be open to the public, and will be listed on the NRA Training Website.
Special discounts will be available to Law Enforcement Personnel (Active or Retired), as well as for Active Duty, Guard and Reserve Military Members and Veterans.
