NRA TRAINING PROGRAM
Starting in January 2023
The Veterans Sportsmens Association has teamed up with firearms manufacture KAHR Arms to provide NRA Training Courses at their Tommy Gun Warehouse facility in Greeley PA starting in 2023. These NRA Basic and Instructor Level Courses will be open to the public, and will be listed on the NRA Training Website.
Special discounts will be available to Law Enforcement Personnel (Active or Retired), as well as for Active Duty, Guard and Reserve Military Members and Veterans.

NRA BASIC PISTOL INSTRUCTOR COURSE

NRA Instructor courses are discipline specific. During the course candidates will learn NRA policies and procedures; basic public speaking skills; training methodology; use of a training team and training aids; organizing a course, building a budget; and finally preparing to teach.
VSA KAYAKINGÂ TRIP
24 August 2024
We will be rafting and kayaking down the Delaware river in the Dingmans PA area. This is a half day trip and participants must bring their own raft, canoe or Kayak. We will have a limited number of Kayaks available for free use. The put in and take out location will be decided a week before the trip based on water levels. We will be meeting at the Dingmans Ferry boat Launch at 1300.

The Rod of Iron Freedom Festival is a free 2nd Amendment event, taking place at Kahr Arms, located at 105 Kahr Ave. in Greeley, Pennsylvania, on Saturday, 12 October and Sunday, 13 October.
The festival is packed with patriotic displays, food and vendor booths, shooting competitions, family-fun activities, a fireworks extravaganza, educational seminars, a self-defense demo, live music, and more!

Classroom presentations cover long-range rifle marksmanship fundamentals, tactical rifle handling, rifle shooting positions, zeroing a scoped rifle, the tactical use of cover and concealment, conducting practical long-range rifle range training, ammunition and equipment, use of trajectory charts and rifle data books, range estimation, and reduced light training.

NRA Law Enforcement Firearm Instructor Development Schools
The Veterans Sportsmens Association will be hosting two NRA LE Instructor Development Schools in 2024 - 2025. These classes are restricted to A "sworn" law enforcement officer, A retired or previously employed "sworn" law enforcement officer, A licensed "armed" private security officer, A member of the United States Armed Forces, A full-time civilian firearm instructor who is employed by a public law enforcement agency, or A full-time civilian contractor.

This school compresses the handgun instructor school to 3 days and adds 2 days of shotgun instructor training. Student classroom presentations, concealed-carry training, and unconventional shooting positions are replaced with shotgun marksmanship and handling classroom presentations and range work. Shotgun drills include firing from cover, use of kneeling and prone positions, moving targets, malfunction clearing, firing on the move, and transitioning to the handgun.

Practical Defense Tactics

PDT – BTB01 BEYOND THE BASICS HANDGUN COURSE

DESCRIPTION
This course is designed to build upon the skills of each student. Students will be introduced to new concepts skills and tactics designed to increase speed, efficiency and accuracy. Students will learn the 4 types of pistol malfunctions and how to clear these stoppages under situationally induced stress.
​
Students should expect to shoot approximately 600 rounds of ammunition. Students will learn basic defensive shooting skills, strategies for home safety and responding to a violent confrontation and the law surrounding that confrontation.
This course is for law-abiding adult citizens, as defined by applicable federal, state, or local laws, and is for experienced shooters. (shooters must be able to show mastery in basic shooting fundamentals and safe gun handling) Proof of shooting experience may be required at the discretion of the instructor and can be one of the following: NRA Basic Pistol Course Certificate, NRA pistol competitive shooting qualification card, military DD 214 with pistol qualification, or passing a Pre-Course Assessment

PDT – ARC01 BEYOND THE BASICS RIFLE/CARBINE CQC

DESCRIPTION
This course is designed to build upon the skills of each student. Students will be safely, introduced to practical concepts, skills, tactics designed to increase speed, efficiency and accuracy with a rifle. Students will learn defensive shooting skills, positions and strategies and weapon manipulations, target acquisition, target transitions, clearing stoppages for defense while responding to a violent confrontation. This class is designed to help students focus on the core fundamentals of rifle shooting.
This course is for law-abiding adult citizens, as defined by applicable federal, state, or local laws, and is for experienced shooters. (shooters must be able to show mastery in basic rifle shooting fundamentals and safe rifle and pistol handling)

Course Fee is $200 plus a $50 Range Fee

Students that attend both class sessions will only be charged one range fee. These two classes will be taught at Double Eagle Pocono in Newfoundland PA. Lodging is available for students who would like to stay on site for the weekend.
